So, what is this ‘Dressed to Kilt’ anyway, and what does fashion have to do with The Award?

Well, for one thing, any number of skills go into designing a fashion masterpiece, all of which could be just some ideas for you Skill activity for your Award. Graphic design, drawing, sewing, project management... the list goes on...

And as for the event – well, why not have a fashion show with some of Australia’s hottest designers involved, all in the name of charity? We here at The Award are constantly looking for innovative and off beat ways to get The Award out there into the market place and ‘Dressed to Kilt’ seemed like a pretty great place to start....

Originally the idea hails from NYC... There the night is one of high fashion and flare designed to promote Scotland and Scottish products. We decided to take the concept a bit further and tie it into OUR Scottish heritage... a fashion show of one off exclusive designs, all with a touch of tartan.... Then came the hard part – getting designers on board! But we did it and are thrilled with the support from - seriously - some of Australia’s hottest designers and fashion houses including Charlie Brown, Tim O’Connor, Bracewell, Bianca Spender, Hannah McLeod, Katie Perry, Brooke Benson  and Carla Zampatti.

The big night is this Wednesday 19th Nov at Sydney’s Doltone House. Tickets are fast running out, so don’t miss out on your chance to rub shoulders with the designers and a few celebs, and of course get the opportunity to BUY one (or more!) of these exclusive one off designs. All proceeds for the night will go to increasing access to The Award to marginalised young Australians.   And don’t forget, if you can’t attend the night you can always pledge your support through a tax deductible donation. Call Meagan now on 02 9252 2408 (press 1) or email reception@dukeofed.org.au

Oh, btw, you can also enter a fab competition exclusive to WHO Mag, and supported by our travel partner, Travel Associates, and the Langham Hotel in London. WIN a trip for 2 to London to strut yourself at London Fashion Week next September (09). How good is that? All you have to do is answer in 25 words or less where you think the hottest fashion destination is in the world, and why. You and a mate could be jetting off to London. Check out http://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/who/ before the end of November.

That’s it from me for now – I’ll keep you posted about DTK and will of course be uploading photos from this fabulous event later in the week.

Ciao ciao,

Sounds like a fantastic event....it's definitely too bad I'm on the other side of the world for this one. Next time, I hope!

It really is an amazing event for anyone wanting to go. I was involed in the event selling lucky dip envelopes which had amazing prizes in them, the champagne game and the wine game! There were a few celebrities when I was there. it was alot of fun, it didnt feel like work at all!

What a fabulous event!! Great to see anything that increases Award inclusion for young marginalised Australians. In Tassie this is also our focus for 2009. The Award is a great program that creates fantastic opportunities for young people, and the great thing is that anyone between 14 and 25 years can participate.
